When I was little, every Thanksgiving meant piling into my aunt’s house with all my cousins. And every single year, once the evening settled and the fire started to crackle, Grandpa would call all us grandkids over to the campfire.

That’s when the magic happened.

He’d lean back in his chair, grin, and start telling the same story we waited for all year long — the tale of his dog, “Ole Beat Eye.”
We heard it a hundred times, but somehow it never got old. It was our tradition… the kind you grow up and realize meant more than you ever knew at the time.
